Born in the 90s—and proudly a millennial—I grew up during what felt like a golden age of television, film and entertainment. There was an incredible variety to choose from, yet the best stories still carried the quality, imagination and complexity needed to become timeless. From superheroes and anime to fantasy worlds and unforgettable characters, these favourites helped shape my creativity, values and outlook—and they remain just as meaningful today.
FAVOURITE TV CHARACTERS
• Anakin- He is a badass, is realistic in his approach (even though he goes bad in the end ), and I think he represents being human. Being a Jedi is an ideal, but it isn’t quite realistic, is it?
• Rick Grimes- I love his character development. He starts off being an idealist and soon realises his way of doing things isn’t realistic and transitions. He does make some mistakes as a leader and makes some questionable choices, but manages to keep his group alive. What made me sad was how any decision he made was questioned and thought they could do better, and if it worked out, he was praised, but if it didn’t, he was blamed. It made me aware of the burden of leadership. “Heavy is the head that wears a crown”.
• Asoka Tano- A bad Ass through and through. If I had a daughter, it would be Asoka. Determined, hardworking, unrelenting and talented.
